Introduction
Welcome to the 36th year of Summer School at Braintree Lawn Tennis Club. In 2021, nearly 300 children passed through the course confirming its popularity and success once again. Each week we hope to see all participants improve their ball skills and stroke techniques through interesting training and fun games.
Coaching
There will be qualified LTA & RPT coaches, and assistants. Players will be grouped depending on age and experience and team skills will be developed through an incentive point scheme which will count towards prizes at the end of the week. All coaching will be in line with the standard of players and all groups have their own coaching structure to aid each player’s development.
Course
The course content will be wide ranging to give every child the opportunity to excel. Instruction, demonstration and games will be supplemented by the use of instructional videos, rebound nets, ball machine, speed gun, mini tennis equipment and targets. LTA & RPT initiatives will be implemented during the course to inspire children taking part. The course will conclude with a fantasy fun games session and tournament.
This course is recognised by Braintree District Council and the Essex Lawn Tennis Association.
Food & Drink and Clothing
Players are welcome to bring snacks and please bring water bottles for your sessions; water bottles can be refilled when required. Wear suitable clothing for the time of year and always a good idea to pack a waterproof and sun cream! We play through all weather conditions but will also take breaks appropriately throughout sessions.
Supervision
All children will be supervised at all times and are not allowed to leave the club until collected by a parent or guardian. Registers are taken to sign children into sessions and also a sign out procedure is in place after every session. The Club and coaches have public liability insurance but cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings.
